A Message from Fr. Tony

The video below was broadcast on Facebook Live on April 27 at 11:00 am. Every Monday Fr. Tony will produce a brief address to the parish on Facebook Live until we are able to gather in person again.

A Letter from Bishop Walkowiak

April 24, 2020

Dear Friends in Christ,

I know how extremely difficult this last month without receiving the Eucharist has been. I thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. While I wish we could completely reopen and resume our normal lives our Catholic duty is to protect the common good by not spreading a potentially deadly disease.

Following consultation with doctors in West Michigan, the Diocese of Grand Rapids has extended its cancellation of ALL public Masses and all other liturgical and devotional services through May 17, 2020. This order is in harmony with Governor Whitmer’s updated stay-at-home order.
The transitional diaconate ordination scheduled for Saturday, May 16 will be privately celebrated and livestreamed for the public on the diocesan website and Facebook page.

All Catholics within the territory of the Diocese of Grand Rapids are granted a dispensation from their obligation of attending Sunday Mass through June 30. Priests are to continue to celebrate Mass each day without a congregation.

I know the desire to return to your parishes and receive the Eucharist is incredibly strong. Health officials and government leaders are determining new guidance for how to safely reopen. The Diocese of Grand Rapids is working on similar plans. The specific details are still being determined. It is important to remember that when we are able to resume public Masses that they will likely not look the same. I ask for your patience and understanding.

You are encouraged to unite yourself with Jesus during this time by making a spiritual Communion during the televised and livestreamed Masses. Families are invited to use this time to pray together. Let us renew our efforts to turn to the Lord. Spiritual resources can be found on the diocesan website,

During this time the directives from April 8 remain in place.

Secret Present for Fr. Tony

Shhhh…. secret gift for Father Tony when he needs support the most…

This Sunday, May 3 is Good Shepherd Sunday and we would like to create a Surprise for Fr. Tony, thanking him for being our Earthly Shepherd!  If you could create either a:

1. Short Video (30 seconds or less?) highlighting a reason that you are grateful for Fr. Tony

2. Or take a Family Picture/Selfie maybe with a poster Saying Thank you or just waving to him.

We will be creating a montage video of all of the submissions and we hope to play it for him this Sunday after the 9:00 Facebook Live Mass. So please get your families together and send your pictures or videos to by this Thursday evening.

Please forward this email to ANY OLC Parishioners!

This is an ever changing time for OLC School! We are looking for people to serve on the OLC School Board. School families and parishioners with an interest in the future direction of our school are encouraged to contact Kevin Varner. Thank you!

We have temporarily had to suspend the Noon broadcast with a Marian Lesson on Facebook Live Faith due to temporary furloughs.  We plan to continue this broadcast as soon as possible.  Updated schedules will be posted as soon as available for the extended quarantine period.

Please Note:  There will NOT be MEMORIAL DAY MASSES this year at the cemeteries of St. Peter and Paul, Holy Cross and Resurrection.
