A Message from Fr. Tony

The video below was broadcast on Facebook Live on May 18 at 11:00 am.  Every Monday we will have a brief address to the parish on Facebook Live until we are able to gather together in person again.

Fr. Dennis Morrow passed away on Saturday, May 16 at the age of 72 after a battle with cancer.

Fr. Den was the pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Parish.

Please keep Fr. Den & his family in your prayers.

Visitation and Funeral Details for Father Dennis Morrow

The funeral service for Father Dennis Morrow, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Grand Rapids, will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 21 at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, 301 Sheldon Blvd. The celebrant will be Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak, bishop of Grand Rapids.

This is a private funeral service due to the current COVID-19 pandemic and protocols in place. The public is invited to join in the celebration via livestream on the diocesan website and Facebook page.

At the conclusion of the service, Father Morrow’s body will be escorted outside to the Piazza Secchia where priests of the Diocese of Grand Rapids will sing the hymn Ecce Quam Bonum and police and fire department personnel will conduct their civil honors. Father Morrow’s casket will then be transported by horse-drawn caisson to his final resting place at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, 900 Madison Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, 49507. Every street and block the funeral procession traverses will be one where Father Den delivered mail during his “glory days” of hittin’ the bricks for the U.S. Post Office. Mourners are welcome to line the streets to say their final goodbye. Please keep a safe social distance while gathering. The route of the procession is attached to this email.

Visitation is open to the public. It will take place on Wednesday, May 20 from 2 – 8 p.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 520 Myrtle St. NW, Grand Rapids, 49504. Please enter at the Quarry St. entrance following the current COVID-19 protocol.

Out of respect for Fr. Morrow’s family and parish community, we inform you that no recording devices — video, audio or still photography — will be allowed inside the church or any parish buildings during the visitation. The media is welcome to speak with parishioners after they leave visitation or the funeral; please be respectful and do not approach them for interviews right outside of the doors. No media interviews are to take place inside the church.

It’s time to bring all of those gently-used clothes and household items you’ve been holding on to since the pandemic started.

Starting Saturday, May 16, we will reopen our donation area. At last!

This will be a touch-less process. You will need to exit your car and place your bagged or boxed items into the designated containers.

Please note that we do not take appliances (other than small kitchen items like blenders, coffee makers, etc.), and absolutely NO televisions.

We ask that you maintain a social distance of six (6) feet, and wait in your car until the car in front of you has finished. Thank you for your patience!
