Coronavirus Update

If you attend the Sacrament of Reconciliation this week or next week (August 12 & 19) please park in the NORTH parking lot (by the Mary statue) and enter through that entrance.

Reconciliation will be held in the Elizabeth Ann Seton Room.

The SOUTH entrance is reserved for those who are attending the Confirmation Mass.

We were informed of the error on the Spouse Phone question on the Census Update.  We apologize for any inconvenience and we have corrected the problem.

We have also received questions about whether we are going to be offering a paper form for those who prefer a less digital option, however that is not being offered at this time.  Tranferring the information from the paper form to the computer system allows for a great amount of data-entry confusion.  We will be offering a phone update soon though.

Feel free to call the parish office for more assistance.

Would you be willing to pray for one hour to end abortion? 40 Days for Life is a pro-life effort that consists of 40 days of praying, fasting, and holding a peaceful vigil in front of an abortion facility.

The fall campaign will take place from September 23 through November 1. This will be the 22nd campaign in Grand Rapids, and it will take place in front of Heritage Clinic for Women at 320 East Fulton Street. This is the only free-standing surgical abortion facility still operating in our community. Dozens of area churches have adopted a day of prayer.

Our Lady of Consolation has adopted Monday, October 19 to pray at the peaceful vigil. At least two individuals are needed for each hour of the vigil from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. A digital sign up will be sent soon. For more information, contact Mike Tarach at or visit

In recognition of the faithful witness of married couples, we will celebrate as a diocese the annual recognition of milestone wedding anniversaries during Mass on Sunday, October 11.

I will be presiding at the 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew that day and will be offering the Mass for the intentions of all married couples in our diocese who are celebrating milestone wedding anniversaries, such as 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 years, etc.

Because of the current situation in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are asking couples to attend Mass at their own parish that day or to participate from home by watching the regular broadcast of the televised Mass or the livestream on Facebook.

I want to extend the invitation to all couples to send in their names and contact information so that we can remember them in prayer and follow up with a letter of apostolic blessing for their marriages this year.

It would be helpful if the reservations were made to the parish office no later than October 1, 2020.

Thank you for your support and strengthening of the vocation of marriage.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak

Bishop of Grand Rapids
