In recognition of the faithful witness of married couples, we will celebrate as a diocese the annual recognition of milestone wedding anniversaries during Mass on Sunday, October 11.
I will be presiding at the 10 a.m. Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Andrew that day and will be offering the Mass for the intentions of all married couples in our diocese who are celebrating milestone wedding anniversaries, such as 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 years, etc.
Because of the current situation in our response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are asking couples to attend Mass at their own parish that day or to participate from home by watching the regular broadcast of the televised Mass or the livestream on Facebook.
I want to extend the invitation to all couples to send in their names and contact information so that we can remember them in prayer and follow up with a letter of apostolic blessing for their marriages this year.
It would be helpful if the reservations were made to the parish office no later than October 1, 2020.
Thank you for your support and strengthening of the vocation of marriage.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend David J. Walkowiak
Bishop of Grand Rapids
