ALPHA

Amy Oatley aoatley@olcparish.net 616-866-2577 ext 220

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. Typically run over eleven weeks, each session looks at a different question that people can have about faith and is designed to create conversation. It’s just an open, informal and honest space to explore and discuss life’s big questions together.

DOMESTIC DISCIPLESHIP- FAMILY/ PARISH WIDE CATECHESIS

Domestic Discipleship provides families of all ages a time and place to engage in their faith through hands on activities. Families will gather on the second Tuesday of each month for a potluck meal, catechesis and hands on activities. These evenings will help parishioners to understand their faith better and to deepen your relationship with Christ. As a community, families will have time to pray and learn about our faith while being present with each other.

It is a supplement for OLC school families, regular Faith Formation classes and families who choose to home school their children.

For those families working at home with their children, Blest Are We student textbooks will be provided along with a syllabus. Work can be completed on line.

The Domestic Discipleship monthly themes for 2018-2019 are:

  • January: Knowing & Walking with Jesus
  • February: Liturgy & the Sacraments
  • March: The Eucharist
  • April: Morality & the Ten Commandments
  • May: Feasts of the Blessed Mother

Please contact the Faith Formation Office for more information.

Mike DiCosola mdicosola@olcparish.net

That Man is You! honestly addresses the pressures and temptations that men face in our modern culture, especially those relating to their roles as husbands and fathers.  The program harmonizes current social and medical science with the teachings of the Church and the wisdom of the saints to develop the vision of man fully alive.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Jean Hessler  (616)-866-2392   jeanhessler@yahoo.com

The Friday Morning Women’s Bible Study invites all ladies to our Lenten study on ‘The Seven Last Words of Christ‘.

This Emmaus Journey Bible Study invites readers to study the seven short sentences uttered by Jesus as he endured his crucifixion, bringing the real meaning of Easter alive! Appropriate for individual and group use, readers will find seven sessions that explore the Scriptures and allow God’s word to more deeply penetrate their hearts. Developed and tested in Catholic parishes, these studies will help people to grow in their walk with Christ. Each Bible study is supplemented with pertinent quotes from Pope John Paul II, saints, spiritual writers, and encyclicals and church documents.

Sacraments are the actions that bring us into closer community with one another and Christ. Each of the 7 Sacraments of the Church was instituted by Christ in the Scriptures. WE believe this is how Jesus Christ remains with us, leading us deeper into a relationship with Him.
