Dear OLC Parishioners,
I hope everyone had a fun, peaceful, and fruitful summer season. Over the past several months, my staff and I have thought of new ideas to share with you, the parish, to help us grow closer to Jesus Christ through the Mass. One of those ideas is to make the lines for Communion more efficient.
At the end of this letter is a diagram of the Communion Flow Process with the addition of the 5th Communion Station. You will see the additional line (shown in red) that will form between the two existing lines. This red line will lead to the middle of the church, below the center steps to the Sanctuary. The presiding priest(s) will administer Holy Communion to this line. There will also be kneelers available for those who choose to use them. The kneelers hold three people at a time. After receiving communion from this line, you can return to your pew with the usual lines.
Please note that with the addition of this line, there may be some traffic getting back into a pew. Be aware of who you are sharing the pew with, and use patience and understanding as there may be a delay in settling back into your seat.
This process will be applied to all Masses that utilize both sides of the Church (weekend Masses, Holy Days, etc.). Normal daily Masses, school Masses, and funerals with smaller congregations will continue using the commonly practiced two-line system.
The 5th Communion Station will be implemented on the weekend of October 5/6. I will continue to update you if more changes are needed. Thank you for your support and patience!
Sincerely Yours In Christ,
