Dear Parents,

It is May!

What a funny sight to see snowflakes this morning at drop-off. We sill need to watch the weather and send some layers!

We have a number of celebrations and events as we wrap up the school year. Please continue to watch emails for reminders and updates.

We have a Tentative DRAFT of events for next year with a number of things still being updated.

Next year’s start dates in Aug. 24th and our end date is June 9th.

Technology Update: With the help of the PA we have new chromebook charging stations and carts in the building and are working to get them setup in classrooms this week! The 5th grade classes were the first to test these new tech-tool learning systems with me this week!

Based on on-going discussions this year, our goal in installing these stations is to establish spaces at school for devices to be safely stored away, charging so they are ready when needed, but also so they are not a distraction to learning throughout the day.

For elementary classes teachers will begin letting parents know when there is digital homework and when to expect students will need to bring devices home.

Homework requiring a device might be a more regular occurance in middle school, so the 6th-8th grade team will be updating MS families next week with some initial schedules for device use.

We aim to use these last 5-6 weeks of school this school year to test out ideas and systems in preparation for some technology updates for the 2026-2027 school year. To assist us with this process please use the link below to let us know your thoughts and questions about account and device access at both OLC School and in your home!

Chromebooks will come home this weekend per the normal routines at the various grade. Once we have more responses on the survey (below) and all carts in rooms, we will communicate about updates next week.

Due to a nice donation this years Spring Fling Middle School dance will be held at an off campus loaction. The dance and dinner will be provide at no cost to the student. Location will be the Corner Bar in downtown Rockford, in the upstairs banquest room.

PARENTS: Please note that you must check your student in and out of the Corner Bar, they will not be released without a parent PRESENT to do so. If your child is riding home with someone else they must have that person noted on this permission slip to do so.

2026 Auction Update

This year’s dinner and auction was a tremendous success—and a wonderful evening of celebration. Together, we raised just over $116,000! After expenses of approximately $41,000 (including venue, food, beverages, entertainment, and fees), the event generated more than $75,000 to support our mission.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped make this event so special.

Planning for next year is already underway. If you’re interested in serving on the auction committee, I would love to hear from you.
