Dear Parents,

As we review MAPs scores and set growth goals for students, teachers are also looking forward to attending the Great Lakes Unity Conference next Thursday and Friday for some unique professional development. This event, hosted by the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools, is a great way for teachers to connect with other Michigan Catholic school teachers, be inspired by well-know educational leaders like Dr. James Smith and Dr. Joe Sanfelippo, and learn from educational experts in the field!

We have a number of opportunities for community involvement with the school in the next 4 weeks. I am confident there is at least one event that will match the interests and schedules of everyone!

• Golf Outting to benefit Athletics at OLC – This weekend
• Pray Like a Champion with Fr. Nate to benefit the OLC Education Foundation – Tuesday Oct 20 (get tickets by the 12th)
• Grand Parents Day – Thursday Oct 22
• PA Meeting – Thursday Oct 22 at 7pm
• School Mass with the Bishop – Friday Oct 23 at 9 am

• Paper Pie Book Fair – Nov 1-5

Literacy fact: Children who read regularly build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and develop background knowledge that supports learning across subjects.

Whether you’re shopping for your own children or looking for a gift, this is a great opportunity to put more books into the hands of young readers!
