A note from Ms Giroux

Dear Parents,

Happy Friday! It was a great week at 6th grade camp and weather is looking promising for 5th grade farm school next week!

Please see below for a note from Mirs Williams explaining our school counseling program. Much like athletics updates we plan to provide information about school counseling and related resources periodically in our weekly messages this year.

Also below, we have added a logo link to information about the Wait Until 8th Initiative for parents!

This Sunday is Catechetical Sunday! Please join us in praying for all of OLC’s teachers and faith formation catechestis with the Mary Seat of Wisdom Prayer:

Mary, Seat of Wisdom

Holy Mother and Teacher of the Child Jesus, I come before you today, grateful for the countless blessings your merits have obtained for me. Humbly, I ask you to guide and protect all students and educators throughout the academic year, especially those dearest to me.

May they remain attentive and steadfast in their work, ever mindful of the gifts of the Spirit at work in them for the good of the world. May the divine providence be pleased to pour out upon them a generous share of the wisdom, understanding, counsel, and knowledge needed to lead them ever closer to your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for them.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the golf outting tomorrow…rain or shine!

“Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

-Ms Abby Giroux-

Individual counseling is available for OLC students to address social or emotional challenges that can interfere with a student’s ability to reach his or her full potential. Counseling during the school day is brief (usually 20-30 minutes every other week) and solution-focused to help students identify problems (such as school-related anxiety, stress management, emotional regulation, or social skills) and brainstorm changes in thinking and/or behavior that could help solve those problems. Participating in counseling outside of school may be a better fit for students or families who are facing ongoing mental health challenges, life transitions, or behavioral problems seen primarily at home. If you are wondering if counseling at OLC is right for your child or if you have any other questions, please contact Mrs. Williams at jquiroz@dogrschools.org.
